Q: What is the core difference between semi-automatic and fully automatic powder coating lines?

A: They differ completely in automation level, labor demand, production capacity and overall cost.

For semi-automatic lines, only the conveyor and curing oven run automatically. Operators hold spray guns manually during coating. Such lines feature low equipment investment and flexible product switching, ideal for small-batch production with various irregular workpieces. However, coating thickness varies depending on workers’ skills, leading to higher labor and powder consumption.

Fully automatic lines are equipped with reciprocators or coating robots. Loading, spraying and powder recovery run automatically without dedicated spray operators. They deliver even, stable coating with high powder utilization and support 24-hour continuous mass production for standardized metal hardware parts. Yet they require higher upfront purchasing and maintenance costs, and perform best under single-variety mass production conditions.

Brief summary: Choose semi-automatic lines for small orders with diverse products; opt for fully automatic lines for standardized mass production.
